Press Release Summary: Philadelphia, PA - John McDevitt Sr. and John McDevitt Jr., residents of the Lawndale section of Northeast Philadelphia, have the distinct honor of becoming the first father and son Students of the Month at CTS's Computer Training School, located at 7718 Castor Avenue.
Press Release Body: In May, John Jr., age 37, was searching the Internet for an economical way to learn computers to add to his resume for meaningful employment. His father John Sr., age 73, accompanied him to the interview at CTS\'s Computer Lab and realized that he, too, could train for better home computing skills.
Once their training started early June, both father and son excelled quickly to earn CTS\'s Students of the Month Award which is normally given to one student. Even though John Sr. is the oldest student in a class of 10, he maintained the highest grade average for June and July. This was the first time in the 12 years of CTS's student awards that a father-son team received it.
Community Technical Service\'s computer courses are highly technical but easy to follow for any age adult. The McDevitts have proven that hard works pays. The Student of the Month Award is a prestigious award at Community Technical Service.
In finishing one quarter of a 12 week course, both father and son can identify a good computer system from a mediocre one, understand how a computer\'s hardware and software\'s function, and how to work effectively in the Windows Operating System. Once the McDevitts finish their computer training course in September, they both will be highly proficient with the basic skills in Microsoft Office, Email and the Internet. Many employers in today's workforce are looking for these skills.
According to John Sr., "Before starting at CTS, my computer skills were limited to say the least. I envied the younger generation who seem to be born with innate computer abilities. My goal was to navigate a computer with a minimum of aggravation. After six classes I am very confident that I will be competent at the end of the course."
"The training at CTS is presented in a very understandable manner and covers every aspect; I can see that I'm learning the skills necessary to advance my earning capacity. My goals are to be able to fully use every computer function necessary to compete in today's high-tech environment. I highly recommend CTS and know that my tuition investment will bring great dividends," McDevitt Jr. concluded.
The owner of CTS Computer Training, April Johnson, states "It is the responsibility of every adult who wishes to use technology for Home, Business, or Employment purposes to do his very best to be trained properly to become competitive. Our responsibility is to provide our clients with the necessary computer skills to reach their goals at minimal cost."
